theScore Bet bonus bets: how they work, Bet Reset, and how to convert them

In short: A theScore Bet Bonus Bet returns only the winnings, which become real cash when the bet settles. Each one has its own expiry date — check it in the Bonus Bets section, because one US promo gives only 3 days. Bet it at plus money and hedge the other side at another book.

How a theScore Bet Bonus Bet pays

theScore Bet's help centre says that when you win a wager placed with a Bonus Bet, your total return includes only the winnings: its example is a $30 Bonus Bet to win $50, which returns $50. The terms of its US Bonus Bet promotions say the winnings automatically convert to real cash when the bet settles. The Bonus Bet itself cannot be redeemed for cash.

You can use a Bonus Bet on any sportsbook market — straights, parlays and futures are named — unless that Bonus Bet comes with its own list of criteria, and only one Bonus Bet can be redeemed at a time.

Bonus Bets are not Credits

theScore Bet also issues theScore Bet Credits, and they work differently. Credits carry a one-time wager requirement on lines greater than −200, and a winning Credits bet pays the stake and the winnings as cash. That makes Credits closer to site credit: they keep their stake, so shorter, safer prices make sense for them, while a Bonus Bet wants plus money. Check which one you hold before choosing the odds.

Expiry, pushes and voids

  • There is no single expiry rule: each Bonus Bet's expiry date is shown in the Bonus Bets section of your account. One current US promotion gives its Bonus Bet only three days, so do not assume a week.
  • If a Bonus Bet wager pushes, is cancelled or is voided, the Bonus Bet is re-issued only if its original expiry date has not passed — so a late-settling bet can cost you the token.
  • Bonus Bets cannot be used on casino games.

Bet Reset and Profit Boosts

Bet Reset is theScore Bet's refund token. Its help article says that if the bet you attach it to loses, your stake comes back as a Bonus Bet, up to the value of the Bet Reset. It works in the mobile app only and cannot be combined with a Bonus Bet or a Profit Boost. The refund is an ordinary Bonus Bet, so convert it like one.

A Profit Boost raises a bet's potential payout by the percentage on the promotion, pre-game or live; the stake is not boosted. If you cash out, the amount is based on the un-boosted payout, so a cash out gives the boost up.

What theScore Bet's terms say about promotions

Its US promotional terms let theScore Bet withhold a promotion reward based on your wagering patterns or history, if you did not take part in good faith, or if you cash out a promotion's wager early. They do not spell out a rule on betting both sides; read each offer's terms.

Worked example: converting a $30.00 theScore Bet Bonus Bet

Bonus Bet: $30.00 on Team A at +250 (decimal 3.50) at theScore Bet. If it wins it pays $75.00; the $30.00 stake is not returned.

Hedge: Team B at −300 (decimal 1.3333), with cash, at a different sportsbook.

Hedge stake = $75.00 ÷ 1.3333 = $56.25.

If Team A wins: $75.00 − $56.25 = $18.75.

If Team B wins: the hedge returns $75.00, a profit of $18.75.

You keep about $18.75 of the $30.00 Bonus Bet either way — a 62.5% conversion, an estimate that holds only if both bets are accepted at these prices.

Converting a theScore Bet bonus bet, step by step

    Open the Bonus Bet in your theScore Bet account

    Open Bonus Bets in your account and check this token's own expiry date and criteria. Note the expiry, any minimum odds, and any sport or bet-type limits shown on the token or in the offer's terms.

    Find a plus-money price at theScore Bet

    Look for one side of a two-way market at roughly +250 to +500 at theScore Bet, inside the token's rules. Main-line moneylines, spreads and totals in major leagues usually price tightest on the other side.

    Find the best price on the other side elsewhere

    At a different sportsbook you hold cash at, find the opposite outcome at the best price available. This price decides most of what you keep.

    Size the hedge

    Hedge stake = the bonus bet's winnings ÷ the hedge's decimal odds. The free hedge calculator does this for you.

    Place both bets and check the slips

    Place the Bonus Bet at theScore Bet, confirm it was accepted at your price, then place the hedge straight away. Recompute if either price moved.

    Record the pair as one position

    Log both bets and the amount you kept, so you know what each book's bonus bets are actually worth to you.

Mistakes that cost money at theScore Bet

  • Treating a Bonus Bet like a Credit (or the reverse). Credits return the stake; Bonus Bets do not.
  • Assuming every Bonus Bet lasts a week. Some US promotions give three days.
  • Choosing a late-settling market: a push or void after the token's expiry does not give it back.
  • Cashing out a promotion's wager early, which the US terms allow theScore Bet to treat as grounds to withhold the reward.
  • Stacking a Bet Reset with a Profit Boost or Bonus Bet, which its help article does not allow.
