bet365 bonus bets: how they work, expiry, and what its terms allow

In short: bet365 Bonus Bets pay only their winnings, into your withdrawable balance, and under its welcome-offer terms expire 7 days after the last time Bonus Bets were added. A push does not give the Bonus Bet back. Its terms also restrict betting both sides and arbitrage, so read them before hedging.

How a bet365 Bonus Bet pays

bet365's offer terms say returns from a Bonus Bets wager go to your Withdrawable Balance, but the Bonus Bets stake is excluded. Its own example: a $20 Bonus Bets wager at +200 returns $40. Its house rules add that Bonus Bets can fund all or part of a bet; on a part-funded bet, only the cash part is included in the returns.

The rules that catch people out

Expiry: under the welcome offer's terms, Bonus Bets expire 7 days after they are added — and if more are added within those 7 days, the whole Bonus Bets balance expires 7 days after the last addition.
Pushes: if a bet is made no action after it had a chance to win, as with a push, the Bonus Bets wager is not returned. Use half-point lines or moneylines so a push cannot cost you the token.
Excluded bet types: Bonus Bets cannot be used on Teasers, Profit Boosts, Bet Boosts or Super Boosts, and bets placed with them do not qualify for Parlay Boost.
Cash out: bet365 offers Cash Out on a Bonus Bets bet only when the Cash Out amount is more than the value of the Bonus Bets used, and the figure shown already has the Bonus Bets stake removed.

Prop Protect and boosts

bet365's Prop Protect returns a straight bet as Bonus Bets if your selection is ruled out through injury, and those Bonus Bets must be used within seven days. On parlays and same game parlays the leg is removed and the recalculated return is paid as Bonus Bets.

Profit Boosts run on selected straight bets and same game parlays, pre-game and live, and Bonus Bets cannot be used on them. bet365 says Parlay Boost's increased winnings are paid as cash.

What bet365's terms say about hedging

bet365's terms matter here more than at most books. Its offer terms do not allow backing both sides of a market to manipulate the release of Bonus Bets, and say that where a Bonus Bet or other promotion produces a profit whatever the outcome, bet365 may reclaim the bonus, void bets and charge an administration fee. Its general terms list arbitrage — exploiting differences in odds between sportsbooks, or betting every outcome so that every result pays — as a prohibited activity.

So this page does not walk through a hedge. The option that sits squarely inside bet365's terms is to bet the Bonus Bet on its own at plus money and accept the swings; the example below works out what that is worth on average, and what a hedge would have locked, for comparison only.

Worked example: what a $100.00 bet365 Bonus Bet is worth

Bonus Bet: $100.00 on Team A at +300 (decimal 4.00). If it wins it pays $300.00; the stake is not returned.

The other side is −360 (decimal 1.2778). With the margin removed from the two prices, Team A's fair chance is 24.2%.

Expected value, bet on its own: 24.2% × $300.00 = about $72.63 (72.6% of face value).

The spread of results: $300.00 about 24.2% of the time, $0 the rest. Over many bonus bets the average is what counts.

Pick plus money in a tightly priced market
Roughly +250 to +400 in a major-league moneyline, spread or total keeps most of the face value, because the missing stake costs least on longer odds.

Place it and accept the swings
Most single bonus bets at these odds lose. The value shows over many of them, so log each one and judge the total, not the last result.

Mistakes that cost money at bet365

Using a Bonus Bet on a line that can push. A push does not return the Bonus Bets wager.
Letting a balance lapse because a later top-up reset the clock you were watching — the whole balance expires 7 days after the last addition.
Trying to put Bonus Bets on a Profit Boost, Bet Boost, Super Boost or teaser.
Backing both sides at bet365 itself, which its offer terms do not allow.
Assuming hedging is fine everywhere: bet365's terms restrict locked-profit play with Bonus Bets.
