Hedging a bet you already have

Locking in a result, or walking away flat — and the stake that does each.

Updated September 27, 2026 · TrueEdge Academy

A hedge is a bet on the other side of a position you already hold. It trades some of the upside for certainty, and the only real question is how much of each you want.

A parlay one leg from paying
Open ticket
$100 → returns $1,200 if the last leg lands
Other side available at
−130
Hedge to lock in equal outcomes
$522
Profit either way
≈ $156
Hedge nothing
$1,100 profit or $100 loss

Neither is wrong. Full hedge is the right answer when the amount at stake matters to you more than the expected value does.

What the Hedge Finder adds

It searches every book we price for the opposite side, so the hedge you get is the best one available rather than whichever book you happened to look at. It then gives you the stake for a full lock and the stake for a flat exit.
